The Rocky Mountain Public Works Institute provides a regional program that educates and elevates public works employees, helping them achieve their management and leadership potential through interactive classes taught by experienced public works officials. The Institute follows the proven APWA model that has been successfully implemented by a number of other APWA chapters throughout the country.

Core topics include:
• Supervisory techniques and skills
• Basic management skills
• Communication skills
• Leadership skills
• Community service/customer orientation skills
• Legal understanding
• Fundamentals of government
• Finance
• Resource management skills
• Public works operations

APWA-approved institutes also meet the institute educational requirements for the Donald C. Stone Level 1 Public Works Supervisor (PWS) and Level 2 Public Works Manager (PWM) credential programs

The Rocky Mountain Public Works Institute takes one year to complete.  Applications and information for the 2014-2015 sessions will be available May 1, 2014.  New sessions begin each October.
